DT Card for Lexi's Creations Challenge #52 Charming

New challenge over at  Lexi’s Creations   with the theme of  'Charming'; challenge will run from Oct 31rd -Nov.12, 2011. I choose to make a Christmas card with a silver candy cane charm as an embellishment. The little fellow  I used as the main image is from 'The Stamping Bazaar' . Isn't he just grand, cute as a button. I coloured him with Prismacolor markers and added some fuzzy flock to his hat. The poinsettia is a digital image from Fairy Dust Crafts  and I loved working with it. It comes in three different section and you just put it together - wonderful!

Stamps:
Marvin with Candy Cane  from the Stamping Bazaar and Poinsettia from Fairy Dust Design
Flourish: Tim Hotlz "Elegant Flourishes'

Snow Birdies with a Flourish

Doodle Pantry is the sponsor this  October for the Corrosive Challenge Blog and this week (Oct 30th, 2011) the theme is 'With a Flourish', just add some sort of flourish to your project. I need some Christmas cards so I decided to use Doodle Pantry's Birdie Snowman  for my project. I coloured with Prismacolor markers and  used  Stickles for the hat trims which I made dimensional.  The flourish is from  Sizzix and is called 'Scribbles Swirls'. The snowflake  flower was created using  a flower die cut from  Stampin' Up  die cut (for the large petals at  bottom on the flower) called  Birds&Blooms. The second layer is a die cut from Spellbinders "Create a Flake Two', the third layer is from a MS snowflake punch and all are held together with a white flower brad.

Hope you like the little snow birdies:)

Cattails

Doodle Pantry is sponsoring Stamps R Us this week (Oct 30th,2011) and the theme is Masculine!  Masculine can be hard sometimes but I figure cattails are a masculine thing as are dragonflies. Butterflies for women, dragonflies for men, anyhow that is what I determined for this card! I quite like this one, it is simple and  I hope gives a sense of calming. Be sure to take the time to visit their blog and hopefully join in the fun!

Stamp: Doodle Pantry digital stamp set  'Cattail Pond'  I actually merged two images together to get the above image. The sentiment is from the same set.
Background paper: the brown textured paper is digital paper  from Stamp TV ;the orange rust paper is Stampin' Up card stock stamped with a  SU rubber background stamp called ' weathered'

Doodle Pantry is a sponsor this week for - Digital Tuesday - with the theme of  HAPPY HALLOWEEN ! Another super fun challenge from the folks at Digital Tuesday. Hope mine is 'happy' enough  as I plan to send it to a great grandson  and I certainly don't want to scare him!  Oh well the birdie  is a pretty un-scary ( is there such a word?) bird so it should be OK.   This little bat birdie is from a Doodle Pantry digital stamp set called - you guessed it - Birdie Bat :0), I think he is quite adorable and I chose to colour him with the orange colour of autumn, handsome , handsome I say!   The sentiment is from the same set and the  flying bats are from  a Cuttlebug die set called Creepy. I used prismacolor markers for the birdie and the background pattern paper is from my stash .  This was a fun card to make and I hope the little guy receiving it will think it is a fun card.

Lexi's Creations Challenge #51The challenge this fortnight is to create a project using the theme 'Just a Sentiment' Take a quick trip over to  Lexi's site  for all the details and  we  would love for you to take part in the fun!

We all have dear friends in our lives, some old, some new and each and everyone is a gift. I just  re-connected with a very old friend who I first met in grade nine. It was such a joy to see her after all these many years. We had graduated together, moved to the  same big city,  lived  as roommates for many years when we  were single and too poor to pay the rent by ourselves, toured  (hitch hiked) the British Ilse's  together ( as as very young adults ) and shared a multitude of memories. Some good ,some bad, but shared none the less. Time brought changes and we grew apart to live our separate lives. We remained in contact usually through  annual letters and cards at Christmas time and the odd phone call. Bless her for those phone calls as this fall  we finally decided to get together.  It is hard to explain how much that meeting meant.  Some people you cherish through a lifetime, she is one such person and until I saw her I did not realize how much I had missed her..

Card Details:
The digital stamp sentiment is from Fairy Dust Crafts  and is called 'the Gift'.    The large flourishes are from the Tim Holtz 'Elegant Flourishes' die cut. The two small butterflies are  from Stampin Up's 'Beautiful Wings' and the larger butterfly is from a MS Punch. The large flower is a dimensional sticker from 'Jolee's boutique'. The flowered circle edge is from MS.

Purple Passion Fish- Doodle Pantry Challenge #17 & Sponsorship

Wow, I had a hard time with this fish, not the fishes fault, just me. I made him dimensional and then decided to put crystal effects on his eyes. They turned out just terrible, cloudy and full of air pockets, so I tried to remove the gloss from his eye and of course removed the whole eye plus some of his face. I mean, I knew better but some times stupidity takes over:) I finally gave in and printed out a new image, coloured it, removed the dimensional one and replaced it with the above fishy.   Note: nothing on his eyes!!. I have quite a time with crystal effects or glossy accents. Make some ghastly messes..

Doodle Pantry is a sponsor this  October (the whole month) for the  Corrosive Challenge Blog  and this week the theme is  Purple Passion - Use purple plus one other color.  I chose  this fish cutie  from a DP digital stamp set  called 'Little Betta Fish' and  the sentiment  from their 'Rounded Circles'  set. The image is coloured with  Prismacolor markers and  I used  MS's scary branches punch for the flower leaves hoping it would look like seaweed.  The red background was  crimped to  reflect the movement of water and  I added the pearls for bubbles.   Oh, I added stickles to his body to accent the scales.
